The Manchester Derby is not the best City rivalry in world soccer, but it rarely lacks its entertainment value. Stunning goals, drama, controversies and heroic performances will be witnessed this coming Sunday, 11th. November.
The Premier Leaague this afternoon confirmed the appointment for match officials this weekend where Anthony Taylor was named as the referee for the Manchester derby. This will be his first Manchester derby after being in the premier league for a very long time.
City are in the best of form and sit on top of the Premier League and will come face to face with struggling Manchester United who also lies seventh on the table. United desperately need points to climb up to a much respected position on the table. With all this in mind, City fans took to twitter their anger over the appointment of Anthony Taylor who some city fans believe he hails from Wythenshawe, a United stronghold just six miles from Old Trafford. Here are some of the popular comments some City fans shared on twitter;
Anthony Taylor refereeing the derby has to be some sort of joke.

Keith Hackett explained how the organisation go about making sure officials aren’t appointed to games where they may have an interest.
“At the beginning of every season the referees’ background information is audited,” he said.
“They complete a form that includes who they support, the history of if they’ve played the game and with the addresses where they are residing. That gives you a picture that comes into use when you’re appointing.”
Taylor has already officiated one of United’s games this season where they came from behind to beat Newcastle United 3-2 early last month.
